Edwin J. Nichols, PhD., is a Clinical/Industrial Psychologist, working in Organization Development. He is the Director of Nichols and Associates, Inc., an applied behavioral science firm. The goal is to restructure organizations to achieve systemic congruence in process through cultural competence in leadership. An assessment of corporate systems and structures is made to achieve systemic congruence within the organization. Corporate staff and management styles are evaluated to ascertain cultural competence and enhance leadership capacity.

Casey Magaris has worked in the healthcare and insurance fields for over 20 years. She created the Indigenous Employee Resource group with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, is a member of the steering committee of the Indigenous Health Coalition through Common Ground Health Initiative, and a staunch advocate for health equity among the Haudenosaunee. She is an enrolled member of the Awkesasne Mohawk tribe and a proud descendent of residential school survivors. In her free time, Casey enjoys time with family, beadworking and crafting.

Isaiah Santiago is 19 years old and a sophomore at St. John Fisher University studying psychology and political science. Isaiah has advocated for youth in New York State for the past four years, fighting youth gun violence and the stigma against mental health. Isaiah founded the We Got This organization, an organization working to end gun violence by allowing youth to get involved in arts and music.

She works with students and their families to fight for the full and adequate funding of NYS public schools, therefore fighting for the investment in our youth. She is an advocate for mental wellness in our schools, which are central to our community. She believes that getting districts the funds to add social and emotional support for our students will allow us to focus on the wholeness of the child, and effectively meet their needs.

Rosalie has been in the banking business for over 30 years, most recently serving Homebuyers in the Rochester region as a Community Development Loan Officer at Five Star Bank for the past six years.  A resident of the Rochester suburb Webster herself, she enjoys the small-town charm and the bustle of lots to do.  In her free time, Rosalie enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her beautiful Yorkie, Haiti. She is also the Chair of the Rochester Housing Authority and serves on the Board of the Puerto Rican Festival Inc.  As a Community Development Loan Officer, Rosalie specializes in helping first-time homebuyers.

Employed at the City of Rochester where she has worked as a Neighborhood Coordinator, Senior Community Housing Planner and since 2006, the Manager of Housing In this capacity, she has helped in the development of over 4,500 affordable housing units, assisted several thousand households to become homeowners, provided educational opportunities to landlords and tenants, and supported programs that help senior citizens remain in their homes. She has also played an integral part in the well-being of the homeless and those with HIV/AIDS in the community. She is the Co-chairperson of the Housing Quality Taskforce.

In January 2018, Ms. Wilt began serving as the second African American ever elected to Brighton Town Council. She was re-elected to her second term in November 2020. Ms. Wilt is married to her husband Nicholas. Together, they have three children: Benjamin; Samuel; and Camille.

Anthony is a dedicated family man, community leader, and advocate who is known as a humble hero. He was raised by his grandmother, Delaine Cook-Green (also known as Mother Cook-Green). He grew up on the Northeast side of Rochester, NY in the F.I.G.H.T. Village housing projects. It was there that Anthony first learned the importance of "community" from the example of his grandmother who has been a staunch trailblazer for Northeast Rochester’s most vulnerable. She inspired Anthony to start B.O.O.K.B.A.G.S. Express.

Wanda Ridgeway is the Executive Director of Rise Up Rochester, Incorporated (RUR), a nonprofit that works to empower the community to establish and maintain a nonprofit culture and provide support to crime victims and their families. In this role, Wanda supports and comforts families at homicide scenes, serves as the liaison between families, the police department, and hospital, and works with community partners to create safety plans for victims to violence to decrease retaliatory victimization.

Signature Awards Breakfast Speaker on January 25th

Dr. Derek Wakeman is Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester. As the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director, he leads quality improvement efforts to provide optimal care to injured children and minimize unnecessary imaging and radiation. His team has a multicenter research project looking at the association of social determinants of health, such as neighborhood area deprivation index, and child physical abuse. He also leads several quality improvement initiatives including an effort to reduce dislodgment and related healthcare utilization after feeding tube insertions. Dr. Wakeman is additionally responsible for a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at augmenting value-based care and identifying the effects of social determinants of health in pediatric surgical patients to facilitate caretaker outreach and education to mitigate health disparities in children.
