What is TESS?

The Training in Employment and Softt Skills (TESS) is a federally-funded program providing classes focused on removing barriers and providing the tools and skills needed for long-term, sustainable self-sufficiency.

Participants will also prepare a resume and cover letter, job search techniques, interviewing skills, and other employment skills.

What Does TESS Do?

  • Offers up-to-date job search techniques

  • Guides through professional resume and cover letter development

  • Educates on practice job interview skills

  • Reinforces soft skills (work ethic, attitude, time management, teamwork)

  • Incorporates one-on-one career coaching support

Participant Eligibility

  • Valid photo ID (driver’s license, NYS ID, benefits card, passport)
  • Income level below 125% of federal poverty guidelines
  • Proof of income (pay stubs, DHS budget sheet, Form 1040 tax return, 6 months of unemployment with W-2 or SSI statements)
