Conference Overview
Action for a Better Community (ABC) proudly presents its 2025 Signature Conference, marking the kickoff of our annual social justice work and 60th-year commemoration of serving the Rochester community. This year's theme, Empowering Communities, Inspiring Change, reflects our ongoing commitment to addressing critical social issues and fostering positive change in our community.
The conference will occur virtually on January 9th and 16th, 2025, culminating in an in-person Awards Breakfast on January 23rd, 2025. Building on the successes of our previous efforts, we will continue to address current community challenges while utilizing an asset-based, solutions-oriented approach. Responding to feedback from our 2024 social justice efforts, we are making a concerted effort to further amplify the voices of young people who are deeply engaged in this work.
Our 2025 conference will feature strategy sessions led by subject matter experts on equity-centered topics, including:
- Racial Trauma and Community Mental Health
- Greenlining: Closing the Racial Wealth Gap
- Health Equity & the Social Determinants of Health
- Violence Prevention & Criminal Justice
- Community Belonging and Racial Healing
We are honored to welcome Joe Roberts, the Skid Row CEO, as our keynote speaker. His inspiring journey from homelessness to success embodies the transformative power of personal resilience coupled with consistent community support (www.skidrowceo.com/about/).
The conference will bring together New York State lawmakers, local legislators, healthcare and human services leaders, young people, financial institutions, and community members to re-commit ourselves to the ongoing work of community wellness and empowerment.
By partnering with us in this work, you will contribute to ABC's efforts to convene a wide variety of stakeholders around a shared commitment to meaningful systemic change in our community. We invite you to join us as a key partner supporting this important work and commemorating ABC's 60 years of making our community better for all.
Together, we can empower our communities and inspire lasting change.
