2022 VIRTUAL
SIGNATURE CONFERENCE VIDEOS
In January of 2021, ABC hosted its virtual Signature Conference series entitled “Racism is a Public Health Crisis – Attacking the 2 Pandemics”. Like us, we are sure that many are surprised, some disappointed, and some frustrated, that we are still feeling the effects of COVID-19. Less surprising is the fact that, as a nation, we continue to struggle with the varied and disparate impacts of racism. In response, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are underway in a wide range of organizations including public, private, religious, educational, etc. Even with these efforts, which we support, the systems that enable systemic racism to flourish; the systems that propagate poverty and facilitate disparities in health outcomes based on one's zip code remain largely unchanged. Those systems were the focus of our 2022 Signature Conference Series “Economic Justice for an Inclusive Recovery” hosted on January 13th and 20th.

“Greenlining: Closing the Racial Wealth Gap” One of the primary ways to close the racial wealth gap is to ensure the accessibility of mortgage financing to people who have and continue to denied these opportunities. The Greenlining Panel will encompass a discussion of the commitments being made by 4 of our regional banks to make mortgages accessible to marginalized people and communities. This is a deliberate attempt to begin closing the racial wealth gap and moving us closer to economic justice. |

“Funding Economic Development in Marginalized Communities” The history of Rochester’s poverty is quite compelling. The “how” of “how we got here” must be taken into consideration as we strategize our way to equity. There has been a historic and current drain of economic resources away from the City, resulting in the concentrated poverty we are experiencing. This panel (Parts I and II) will discuss reversing this trend as a means towards economic justice. |
