Introducing The Benefits Project
The Benefits Project helps individuals and families in Monroe County understand their benefits and how income changes (like a raise, a new job, or extra work hours) may affect them.
The goal is simple: make benefits information clear and accessible, so you can plan with confidence and keep more of what you earn.
Led by Action for a Better Community (ABC), policymakers, and funders, the project brings together volunteers and advocates to improve how the benefits system works for everyone.

Moving Past the "Benefits Cliff"
One of the biggest challenges individuals and families face is the "benefits cliff" - when even a small raise or extra hours can cause a sudden loss of support. This drop often leaves families stuck, earning more but struggling to cover basic needs.
The Benefits Project partners with policymakers, researchers, and local organizations to change that. Through tools, education, and advocacy, the project helps people plan ahead, protect what they've earned, and move forward without losing the essential support they rely on.
