Community Building in Action

Description of Services:  Community Building in Action (CBA) was started in 2001 to engage and support neighborhood organizations and block groups throughout Rochester. As ABC interacted with residents, strategies were created to address the priority issues that emerged. Our mission is to provide training and services which allow individuals and resident groups to shape their environments and take a greater role in their community. The following projects have been created to support these efforts:

  • Neighbors ROC– Community Outreach and Support
  • Community Leadership Development- ongoing series of trainings
  • Rochester Walks! partnership with the Center for Community Health to identify strategies to increase resident physical activity
  • Group Work Camps- volunteer based home improvement project

Target Population / Eligibility Criteria:   Although the CBA projects are geared for low-income individuals and challenged neighborhoods, everyone is eligible to participate in our activities.

Hours of Operation and Service Delivery:  CBA delivers its services in community environments and workshops settings. Office hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Staff are available by appointment at other times.

Location of Services :  CBA is located at 917 Main Street on the 1st floor
